CCTV News: According to the official account of the Chinese Embassy in Australia, the spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in Australia responded to reporters’ questions on the Australian government’s statement on Taiwan.

Q: On December 31, 2025, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade issued a statement expressing concern about China’s recent military exercises near Taiwan Island. What is China’s comment on this?

A: The relevant Australian statement confuses right and wrong. China expresses strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to this. We have lodged stern representations with Australia. The spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also stated China’s solemn position on this.

Recently, the United States violated the one-China principle, the three Sino-US joint communiqués and the commitments made by US leaders, announcing large-scale arms sales to the Taiwan region of China, fueling the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces' arrogance to "use force to seek independence" and "rely on the United States to seek independence", and is turning Taiwan into a "powder keg" and "ammunition depot." The separatist actions of "Taiwan independence" and the interference of external forces are the biggest unilateral changes in the status quo of the Taiwan Strait. They are the "destructors of regional peace", "crisis creators" and "war instigators" and should be condemned by all parties.

Taiwan is an integral part of China’s territory. The Taiwan issue is purely China's internal affair and does not tolerate any external interference. The relevant military exercises of the Chinese People's Liberation Army are a serious warning to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces and external interference forces, and are a just action to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity. "One China" is the political foundation of China-Australia relations. China strongly urges Australia to abide by its political commitments, stop interfering in China's internal affairs, stop condoning "Taiwan independence" separatist activities, and create a good environment for the healthy and stable development of China-Australia relations.
