The National Health Insurance Administration will make every effort to promote the opening of other regions and continuously optimize related business processes.

The provinces that have opened medical insurance wallets include Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Guangdong, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Tibet and Gansu. Among them, six provincial medical insurance departments, including Hebei, Henan, Anhui, Tibet, Sichuan and Hubei, have fully opened medical insurance wallets within the province (autonomous region).

On December 2, 2024, the National Medical Insurance Administration officially launched the national medical insurance personal account to cross-provincial mutual assistance, and the employee medical insurance personal account can be used across provinces to pay resident medical insurance and pay medical expenses for their close relatives.

According to reports, the areas where the transferor and payee are required to use a medical insurance wallet have been activated. Insured persons can download the National Medical Insurance Service Platform App in the mobile app store, and after registering and logging in, click to enter the "Medical Insurance Wallet" to query.

To transfer money to your family using a medical insurance wallet, you need to click "Medical Insurance Wallet Transfer Application", and correctly fill in the payee information, transfer amount, etc. as required. After confirming that it is correct, click "Submit" to perform "face verification" or "Medical Insurance Code Password Verification". After completing the verification, the transfer is displayed.
