On December 3, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference. A reporter asked: Lai Ching-te recently publicly opposed the Kuomintang's plan to "amend the law" to ensure the "participation in political power" of mainland China. Zhuo Rongtai, the head of Taiwan's administrative agency, also used this as an excuse to openly sell the "two-state theory."
In this regard, spokesperson Zhang Han said that mainland spouses are family members and relatives of Taiwanese compatriots, builders and contributors to Taiwanese society, and should be recognized and respected, and their legitimate rights and interests, including "participation in and discussion of political affairs," should be safeguarded. Out of its "Taiwan independence" nature, the DPP authorities blatantly peddle the "two-nation theory", wantonly deprive mainland Chinese of their legitimate rights and interests, suppress and bully mainland Chinese groups, and constantly challenge the historical and legal fact that both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one China. We strongly condemn this. I am warning the DPP authorities that any bad behavior or tricks that undermine peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and harm the interests of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait will surely reap the consequences. We will not be lenient to the "Taiwan independence" accomplices and minions who persecute mainland spouses, and will be held accountable and severely punished in accordance with the law.
