Recently, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said in a parliamentary interview that if China dispatches warships and uses force against Taiwan, it may constitute an "existential crisis situation," implying that the Self-Defense Forces will be able to exercise the right of collective self-defense in this regard. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded solemnly and stated that the erroneous remarks related to Taiwan seriously violate the one-China principle and are seriously inconsistent with the political commitments made by the Japanese government so far.
Japanese leaders have crossed the line and made provocations on the Taiwan issue, and their nature and impact are extremely bad. As far as the relations between China and Japan are concerned, the Taiwan issue is related to the political foundation of China-Japan relations and the basic faith of Japan. The Japanese politicians openly made wrong remarks related to Taiwan on the important occasion of the National Assembly’s defense, which is a gross interference in China’s internal affairs, challenges China’s core interests, and seriously undermines the foundation of China-Japan relations and political mutual trust. For the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait, "Taiwan independence" separatism is the biggest threat. The Japanese leader's hint of the possibility of military intervention in the Taiwan Strait is sending a serious wrong signal to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, making them mistakenly believe that they have a backing for seeking "independence" and become more aggressive and provocative. This will make the situation across the Taiwan Strait more complex and severe, and the regional situation more tense and volatile. His false words and deeds will cause serious harm.
Those who start fire will burn themselves. Japanese leaders who attempt to disrupt the situation in the Taiwan Strait and the region are doomed to dig their own graves. Historically, the Japanese militarists used the so-called "existential crisis" as an excuse to launch aggression against China, brazenly created the "September 18th Incident" under the pretext of "exercising the right of self-defense", provoked a war of aggression against China, and eventually surrendered in defeat. The Japanese leaders should have deeply reflected on their war responsibilities and truly learned the lessons of history. However, on the occasion of commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, they manipulated the so-called "existential crisis situation" and tried to use Taiwan to cause trouble again and interfere in China's reunification cause. They will only repeat the same mistakes and fail more completely. Former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama publicly stated that Japan should respect the fact that Taiwan is part of China. The Taiwan issue is China's internal affairs and Japan should not interfere. Former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda was extremely shocked by the relevant remarks and believed that there were major risks. Public opinion on the island pointed out that the Japanese leader's move was to shoot himself in the foot and would surely lead Japan to a situation of no return.
China will eventually be unified and will be unified. 80 years ago, the Chinese people fought bloody battles and won the great victory of the Anti-Japanese War; 80 years later, the Chinese nation, which is heading towards great rejuvenation, will never allow anyone to interfere in and obstruct the great cause of China's reunification. We advise Japanese leaders to abide by their political commitments on the Taiwan issue and immediately stop all wrong words and deeds that interfere in China's internal affairs. Japan attempts to interfere in the Taiwan issue and tie itself to the chariot of splitting China, and it will surely suffer the consequences!
