CCTV News: At the series of press conferences on the "Achievements of China's High-Quality Economic Development" held by the State Council Information Office on the 21st, a relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said that in 2024, the added value of the consumer goods industry above designated size increased by 4.5% year-on-year, a growth rate of 3.6 percentage points higher than the same period in 2023. Driven by the new round of consumer goods trade-in policy, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will take multiple measures to improve the supply capacity of high-quality consumer goods.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated that at present, more than 90% of county-level cities regard the consumer goods industry as a pillar industry. Since 2024, my country has implemented the "three products" strategy of increasing consumer goods, improving quality and creating brands in depth, and the supply capacity of high-quality consumer goods has continued to improve, making positive contributions to stabilizing the growth of the industrial economy and meeting the people's needs for a better life.

Tao Qing, Director of the Operation Monitoring and Coordination Bureau of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that in the next step, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will step up efforts to expand the "old-for-new" policy for consumer goods and formulate an action plan to enhance the adaptability of light industrial consumer goods to help expand domestic demand. Organize and implement the "newal" plan for the excellence of textile and clothing brands, and cultivate a group of light industry textile industry clusters of hundreds of billions of yuan.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology also stated that it will spend about three years to cultivate thousands of high-quality brands, actively promote the sinking of new energy vehicles, smart home appliances and other products to townships and remote rural areas, formulate implementation plans for digital transformation in key industries such as textiles, light industry, food, and medicine, promote large-scale equipment updates and technological transformations, and accelerate the integrated application of digital technology and artificial intelligence in the consumer goods industry.
