1-October, my country’s agricultural product processing industry made steady progress. The added value of the agricultural and sideline food processing industry above designated size increased by 6.3% year-on-year. The processing layout is constantly optimized, and production capacity continues to move toward production areas and concentrate in main production areas. Industrial entities have developed and grown, and leading enterprises are operating well overall. There are more than 98,000 leading enterprises at or above the county level nationwide, of which more than 80% are involved in agricultural product processing. The level of production and operation and the ability to support farmers have steadily improved.

New industries and new business formats are full of enthusiasm. Agriculture is deeply integrated with tourism, culture, sports, e-commerce, etc., and new formats such as rural leisure tourism and rural e-commerce are booming, which has not only become a new growth point for industrial development, but also a new highlight for farmers to increase their income. 1-October, retail sales of consumer goods in rural areas were 5.5 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%, and the growth rate was 0.4 percentage points higher than that in urban areas. National online retail sales of rural and agricultural products increased by 7.5% and 9.5% year-on-year respectively.

The development of characteristic industries is accelerated. This year, we will support the establishment of 40 advantageous and characteristic industrial clusters, 50 modern agricultural industrial parks, and 200 strong agricultural industry towns, promote the cultivation of 398 strong industrial villages, develop a number of "small but exquisite" and "special and beautiful" specialty products, and promote small specialties to become large industries.

Pan Yangbin, deputy director of the Rural Industry Development Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said that since the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has focused on the "local specialties" article, through in-depth implementation of the agricultural product processing industry development actions, building a strong industrial integrated development platform and other measures, strengthening the leader, supplementing the chain, developing business types, building brands, expanding multiple rural functions, and tapping the diverse values ​​of the countryside. The rural industry continues to maintain a good development momentum, the industrial resilience continues to increase, and the vitality further bursts out.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs stated that in the next step, it will focus on the agricultural product processing industry to promote the upgrading of the entire chain, focus on rural leisure tourism to explore the diverse values ​​of the countryside, cultivate and expand agricultural enterprises in categories, promote rural entrepreneurship and development, and promote high-quality development of rural industries.
