On May Day holiday, many people enjoy leisurely holidays—or reunite with relatives and friends, or wander among the mountains and rivers. At the construction sites of major transportation projects in various parts of the motherland, countless builders still stick to their posts. They sweated wildly and raced against time, making every effort to promote the project construction and use their hard work to ensure the quality and efficient promotion of the project.
In Xuchang, Henan, as the last truck of water-stable pellets on the paver was spread out smoothly, the grassroots paving project of the third-mark pavement on the Xuchang Ring Expressway was fully completed on May 2. During the May Day holiday, more than 1,000 builders of the project stayed at their posts and worked hard to build the ring expressway as soon as possible. "During this May Day holiday, our construction 'hot' and 'speed' has not decreased at all. We strive to speed up the last section of the bottom paving before the rainy season arrives to ensure that the road paving task is completed on time and with high quality in the next stage." Wang Yuchi, project manager of China Railway 17th Bureau, said that while fully promoting the construction progress, in order to deal with high temperature weather, the project promptly carried out first aid knowledge lectures on preventing heatstroke, preventing heatstroke and high temperature-induced diseases, and adjusted the work and rest time of workers to avoid high temperature periods.
In the Fenhu Tunnel at the junction of Jiaxing, Zhejiang and Suzhou, Jiangsu, the 14.82-meter domestically produced super-large diameter mud water balance shield machine "Red Boat" was excavated from south to north and completed reception, which marked the smooth completion of the first tunnel of the newly built Nantong-Ningbo High-speed Railway (hereinafter referred to as "Tongying-Ningbo High-speed Railway"). According to reports, the Fenhu Tunnel of Tongning-Ningbo High-speed Railway passes through multiple ecological protection areas and water source protection areas, with high environmental protection requirements, high safety risks and high construction difficulties. In this regard, the "Red Boat" integrates the "intelligent brain" system independently developed by the team of Hong Kairong, chief expert of China Railway Tunnel Bureau, director of the National Key Laboratory of Intelligent Operation and Maintenance. This "intelligent brain" allows the "Red Boat" to achieve intelligent excavation of "self-decision of parameters and self-execution of operations", and also allows tunnel construction to achieve a breakthrough from "experience-driven" to "data-driven".
In Kunming, Yunnan, during the May Day holiday, at the construction site of the T2 terminal of the Kunming Changshui International Airport renovation and expansion project, dozens of tower cranes were towering into the clouds, and more than 300 workers shuttled through the "reinforced forest". With hard work, this "steel beast" with a construction area of 730,000 square meters jumped from the drawings to reality. It is understood that after the project is completed, the annual passenger throughput will reach 95 million and the cargo and mail throughput will reach 1 million tons. At that time, Kunming Changshui International Airport will form a pattern of "four runways + dual terminals" and achieve seamless connection with high-speed rail and subway.
In Guangxi, the construction site of Pinglu Canal, the backbone project of the Western Land-Sea New Passage, is also full of tower cranes and mechanical roaring. During the May Day holiday, nearly 20,000 builders on the Pinglu Canal line stood at their posts and promoted the construction of the Pinglu Canal. Up to now, the Pinglu Canal has completed an investment of more than 53 billion yuan and completed an excavation of more than 280 million cubic meters of earth and stone. After the completion of the Pinglu Canal, 5,000-ton direct river-sea ships can directly connect to China's coastal ports and major ports in Southeast Asia from the Xijiang inland port, and will save more than 5.2 billion yuan in transportation costs for the areas along the Western Land-Sea New Channel every year.
"Since the beginning of this year, my country's fixed transportation investment scale has been running at a high level, with 675.2 billion yuan in transportation fixed assets investment in the first quarter. By way of view, railway and waterway investment maintained rapid growth, with a year-on-year increase of 5.2% and 10.2% respectively." Jin Jingdong, deputy director of the Comprehensive Planning Department of the Ministry of Transport, said that the Ministry of Transport will closely follow the strategic goal of building a strong transportation country, fully promote the construction of major transportation engineering projects, stabilize the scale of effective investment, improve investment efficiency, and complete the goals and tasks of the "14th Five-Year Plan" with high quality, laying a solid foundation for achieving a good start to the "15th Five-Year Plan".
