From April 2 to 3, the two militaries of China and the United States held a working group meeting on the 2025 China-US Maritime Military Security Consultation Mechanism in Shanghai. On the basis of equality and respect, the two sides conducted candid and constructive exchanges on the sea and air security situation between China and the United States since the last working group meeting, evaluated the implementation of the Code of Conduct for the Safety of Sea and Air Encounter between China and the United States, and discussed measures to improve the maritime military security issues between China and the United States.

China points out that the security of ships and aircraft is inseparable from national security. U.S. warships and aircraft conduct reconnaissance, measurement and high-intensity training activities in China's sea and airspace faced by China, which is very easy to cause misunderstandings and misjudgments, endangering China's sovereignty and military security. In response to this, the Chinese military will continue to respond to all dangerous and provocative acts in accordance with the law and regulations, and resolutely safeguard the country's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
