General Secretary Xi Jinping has always been very concerned about the development of Ningbo Zhoushan Port. As early as December 2006, the annual container throughput of Ningbo Zhoushan Port reached 7 million TEUs for the first time. Comrade Xi Jinping, then secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee, went to the dock in person and pressed the lifting button of the 7 million TEU. It was also that year that Ningbo Port and Zhoushan Port officially launched the name "Ningbo Zhoushan Port". Under the personal promotion of Comrade Xi Jinping, the integration of the two ports kicked off. The reform has promoted Ningbo Zhoushan Port to operate in an all-round integrated manner from port construction, coastline development, and investment promotion, opening a fast lane of development that reaches the world.

On March 29, 2020, General Secretary Xi Jinping visited Zhejiang and his first stop was Ningbo Zhoushan Port. This was his 10th visit. After inspecting the container operation scene on the dock in the rain, the General Secretary pointed out that Ningbo Zhoushan Port should build a first-class and strong port and forge a "hard core" force.

It was shortly after this inspection that at the seventh meeting of the Central Financial and Economic Commission, General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed for the first time to build a new development pattern with the domestic circulation as the main body and the domestic and international circulations mutually promoting each other.

Remembering the instructions of the General Secretary, Ningbo Zhoushan Port has "connected land and sea, internal and external linkage, and mutual assistance from east to west" and has accelerated its goal of a world-class strong port.

Now, the number of sea-rail transport routes in Ningbo Zhoushan Port has increased from 17 five years ago to 27, radiating to inland provinces such as Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, and Shaanxi. It can reach Xinjiang as far as the farthest. Just at the beginning of this month, the "Yiwu-Ningbo Zhoushan Port" container sea-rail intermodal transport route became the first sea-rail intermodal transport route in China with a total of 1 million boxes. The world's largest small commodity market is closely connected with the world's largest port.

Extend the hinterland internally and expand the global circle of friends externally. The international routes of Ningbo Zhoushan Port Jintang Port Area have exceeded 50 major obstacles. Over the past five years, Ningbo Zhoushan Port has also promoted the formation of a cooperation mechanism for 47 institutions from 29 countries and regions to join international friendly ports by building platforms such as the "Maritime Silk Road Port International Forum". As a strategic hub of "dual circulation", Ningbo Zhoushan Port is accumulating greater energy.
