"Expression is not as good as example, and teaching by example is worse than teaching by words." This is a sentence that Comrade Xi Jinping often said when he was in Zhengding, Hebei. It is a good thing that party members and cadres, especially leading cadres, dare to express their opinions. It helps to unify thoughts, build consensus, and boost morale. But if you only express your opinions but do not implement them, and only do not practice pragmatically, then your bold ambitions will become castles in the sky and mirrors. Statement is just the starting point. When Party members and cadres work and start businesses, they must keep in mind the truth that actions are better than words, take the lead in taking action, seek practical results, be good examples, and implement them well.

Example is the touchstone of style construction. Leading cadres take the lead in taking the lead and doing first is the key to our party's success. In the war years, Communist cadres both took charge and went on a war, and consciously called "Follow me", which was in sharp contrast to the "Follow me" of Kuomintang officials. Since the new era, our Party has formulated and implemented the eight central regulations and reshapes the party style and political style with the determination to build trust in the country.

General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized: "Leading cadres at all levels must set an example and set an example. They must do what they say and fulfill what they promise. Comrades from the Central Political Bureau will start with me." General Secretary Xi Jinping went deep into the grassroots front line, strengthened and improved investigation and research, and his footprints were spread across the 14 concentrated and contiguous poverty-stricken areas. After the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, he went out to Beijing for inspection for the first time, did not rush the road, block the road, or pave the red carpet; he went to the army to inspect, and lined up with the soldiers to make meals with the soldiers, and had a table to eat... Set a benchmark and set an example for the whole party with practical actions. Taking the lead is a powerful demonstration and a silent mobilization. Only by doing one level to see and leading one level to work can we promote a new style of party style and government style, social style and people's style to continue to improve, and win the heartfelt support of the people.

As the saying goes, it is better to act than to shout. Leading cadres take the lead in setting an example, which is concrete rather than abstract, comprehensive rather than selective, and consistent rather than a slight start. This requires leading cadres to understand the first level of higher learning, learn more deeply, practice first, and be able to see and touch. We must take the lead in strengthening theoretical study and investigation and research, consolidate our theoretical foundation, and apply the Party’s innovative theories to solving problems encountered in practice. Take the lead in going deep into reality, sinking to the front line, reaching the crux of the problem, accurately and comprehensively understand the situation and analyze contradictions, clarify ideas and explore laws in the face of complex situations and problems, and then formulate feasible and effective policies and measures, so as to truly set an example.

It is a basic requirement for party members and cadres to implement the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee without fail. In reality, some leading cadres have low prestige. One of the important reasons is that they are keen on "expressing their determination at the meeting and writing their ambitions on paper", but in implementation, they "only hear the sound of the stairs and no one can come down." This phenomenon of high statements and poor implementation of actions is not only easy to lose the trust of the people, but also damages the image of the Party and the credibility of the government. As the saying goes, "If a person does not follow, he will not follow; if he does not lead, he will not believe." Party members and cadres should have a sense of responsibility and urgency of "always rest assured", be a good example of actions, resolutely abandon the mentality of "outsiders" and "bystanders", dare to tackle tough problems and walk through dangerous shoals, face urgent and difficult tasks with less fear of difficulties and more positive actions, take the initiative to move towards problems, face difficulties, and overcome pressure, and do good things well and practically in overcoming difficulties. At the same time, take the lead in abide by the rules and be a good example of doing things cleanly and doing things with "mind" rather than relying on "mindness" to work. Only by being able to stand upright and act well.

Set an example and finally come up with a real report card. The people look at whether the leading cadres are competent, not about how many meetings they hold, how many words they say, or how many documents they send, but about what problems they have solved. The people have the deepest understanding of whether there are any changes. Therefore, party members and cadres focus on development and doing their careers, and focus on taking practical measures and achieving results, aiming at the goals and striving for the results. We must regard benefiting the people as our greatest political achievement, and use a pragmatic style that we must do what we say and make sure we must do what we have to do. Bend down, be down-to-earth, and set an example. We must not only lead everyone to do it, but also do it for everyone to show us, and strive to turn what we say and what we write on paper into concrete actions and achieve practical results.
