Fujian earth buildings were born in the Song and Yuan dynasties more than 1,000 years ago. Most of them were built by Hakkas who migrated to Fujian. This unique mountainous large rammed earth house building not only adapts to the requirements of life and defense of gathering tribes, but also reflects the harmonious sharing of humanistic attainments and the natural environment.
In 2008, Fujian Tulou was officially included in the World Heritage List.
