On April 15, on a state visit to Kuala Lumpur, President Xi Jinping published a signed article entitled "Let the Ship of China-Malaysia Friendship to a Better Future" in Malaysia's Sin Chew Daily, Star Daily and Sunshine Daily.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Malaysia are friendly neighbors across the sea, and are a community with a shared future that shares safety and danger, honor and disgrace, and weal and woe. The Maritime Silk Road has witnessed the friendly exchanges between the two countries across thousands of years, and the "water-cut" generational friendship has become deeper and deeper with the evolution of history. The two sides should work together to add momentum to this ship of friendship that has sailed from the long river of history and move forward steadily.

Xi Jinping stressed that China and Malaysia should firmly grasp the rudder of strategic leadership, strengthen strategic communication, enhance political mutual trust, implement the cooperation plan for the two governments to jointly build the "Belt and Road", strengthen the docking of development strategies and exchange of experience in governing the country, and promote the development of bilateral relations with high-level strategic cooperation. We must carry the ballast of pragmatic cooperation, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, promote high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road", strengthen industrial chain and supply chain cooperation, focus on promoting cooperation in digital economy, green economy, blue economy, and tourism economy, and help each other's modernization process. We must row the oars for cultural exchanges, come and go frequently like visiting relatives, promote mutual learning in civilizations, and enhance mutual understanding and blind dates between each other, especially the young generation. We must raise the sails of multilateral cooperation, carry forward the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and the Bandung Spirit, jointly safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law, promote global governance in a more just and reasonable direction, safeguard the multilateral trading system, maintain the stability of the global industrial chain and supply chain, and maintain the international environment of open cooperation.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the friendly cooperation between China and ASEAN countries has gone through the storms of the times and has become stronger over time. China firmly supports ASEAN solidarity and the construction of ASEAN community, supports ASEAN’s central position in the regional structure, and fully supports Malaysia in performing its duties as the rotating ASEAN chairman in 2025. We look forward to Malaysia as a coordinator of China-ASEAN relations to better play a bridge role. China is comprehensively promoting the great cause of strong country construction and national rejuvenation with Chinese modernization. It is willing to work with Malaysia and other ASEAN countries to adapt to the historical trend of peace and development, resist the undercurrents of geopolitical and camp confrontation, break through the countercurrents of unilateralism and protectionism, promote a high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future to break through the waves, and work together to build a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
