At the invitation of Malaysia's Supreme Head of State Ibrahim and Cambodia King Sihamoni, President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to Malaysia and Cambodia from April 15 to 18. Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian introduced the main arrangements for this visit and China's expectations for developing China-Vietnam, China-Malaysia and China-Cambodia relations at a regular press conference on the 11th.

Lin Jian said that surrounding areas are the priority direction of China's diplomacy, and China and Southeast Asia are good neighbors, good friends and good partners with a shared destiny. Recently, the Central Peripheral Work Conference was successfully held, making it clear that China will continue to uphold the concept of friendly, sincere, favorable and inclusive neighboring diplomacy, carry out friendly cooperation with neighboring countries, enhance understanding and mutual trust, and develop and revitalize together. This visit is President Xi Jinping's first visit this year. It is of great significance to promoting the overall development of China's relations with Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia and China-ASEAN, and will also inject new impetus into peaceful development in the region and even the world.

Lin Jian said that China and Vietnam are socialist friendly neighbors, and are promoting reform and innovation that conforms to their national conditions, and strengthening unity and cooperation is in the common interests of both sides. At the end of 2023, General Secretary Xi Jinping and President of the People's Republic of China visited Vietnam through a historic visit to Vietnam, leading China-Vietnam relations to open a new chapter in the China-Vietnam community with a shared future. Since last year, General Secretary Xi Jinping has maintained strategic communication with General Secretary Su Lin, with close exchanges between departments and localities, and fruitful cooperation in various fields, bringing tangible benefits to the people of both countries. Lin Jian said that this visit is President Xi Jinping's second visit to Cambodia after nine years. During this visit, President Xi Jinping will meet with King Sihamoni and Queen Mother Monile, meet with the President of the People's Party and the Chairman of the Senate Prince Hun Sen, and hold talks with Prime Minister Hun Manai. The two sides will discuss a new positioning for enhancing China-Cambodia relations and exchange in-depth views on five major areas, including political mutual trust, mutually beneficial cooperation, security guarantee, cultural exchanges, and strategic cooperation.
