A reporter from the Taiwan Taiwan asked a question, we noticed that when Foreign Minister Wang Yi talked about the Taiwan issue at the press conference of the Foreign Ministers of the Two Sessions last week, he said, "The only title of Taiwan in the United Nations is 'Taiwan Province, China'." Some people believe that this shows that the mainland's policy toward Taiwan has become more tough. What does the spokesperson view? Mao Ning said that the resolution 2758 of the UN General Assembly in 1971 clearly stated that there is only one China in the world, Taiwan is not a country, Taiwan is part of China, and it is clear that China has only one seat in the United Nations and that the Government of the People's Republic of China is the only legal representative.

In order to abide by the provisions of this resolution, the title used by the United Nations and its specialized agencies when referring to Taiwan is "Taiwan Province, China".

The official legal opinion of the Office of Legal Affairs of the United Nations Secretariat clearly states that Taiwan has no independent status as a province in China, which is the consistent position of the United Nations and all cases can be investigated.

On the Taiwan issue, China's position is consistently clear. We always adhere to the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus and are willing to do our best to strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification with the greatest sincerity.

At the same time, China will take all necessary measures to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and resolutely oppose "Taiwan independence" separatism and interference from external forces.
