"What does the villager's electric kang look like?"

On March 7, 2021, at the deliberation of the Qinghai delegation at the Fourth Session of the 13th National People's Congress, representative A Shengqing from Haidong Huzhu Tu Autonomous County made a speech, General Secretary Xi Jinping asked with concern.

"In the past, I had to burn a kang in winter. The kang would smoke, which was neither hygienic nor beautiful." Thinking of the days when I burned a kang, Lu Zhiwei, a villager in Banyan Village, was deeply touched.

In 2018, Banyan Village implemented the "fired firewood to electric" project, and the villagers all used electric heating kangs.

From the earthen kang to the electric kang, the way of heating of the villagers is changing, and General Secretary Xi Jinping’s concern for people’s livelihood has always been consistent.

On August 23, 2016, after inspecting Banyan Village, General Secretary Xi Jinping came to the Xining Branch of State Power Investment Corporation Yellow River Hydropower Solar Power Co., Ltd., emphasizing that Qinghai must seize key links such as talents, technology, and funds, and develop a one-stop photovoltaic industry chain to better benefit the people.

Under the care of the General Secretary, the development of Banyan Village has entered a new track. Today, in Banyan Village, courtyards are lined up one by one, and every household uses a clean, safe and warm electric kang, and photovoltaic panels bring "green electricity". The villagers used the photovoltaic power generation on their roofs to achieve zero carbon emissions in cooking, clean heating, and transportation.

"After photovoltaic power generation was made, every household of the people would make profits, and the same as 'growing crops' on the roof." Zhong Guan Yinbao, who had been the village party branch secretary in Banyan Village for 5 years, witnessed the whole process of the villagers' wallets getting bigger and better spirits. "Every day, singing flowers to make plate embroidery, life is very beautiful."
