According to statistics from the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Customs, during this year's Spring Festival holiday, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Customs supervised a total of 16,000 duty-free items and 13,000 duty-free shopping.

It is reported that starting from July 1, 2024, at the bridge port, the duty-free release amount will be increased from 5,000 yuan to 12,000 yuan for personal reasonable luggage items brought by residents and passengers entering Hong Kong and Macao to obtain overseas.

The implementation of the new tax exemption policy has to a certain extent driven the enthusiasm of mainland tourists to travel to Hong Kong and Macao to consume. During this year's Spring Festival, the passenger flow at the bridge port showed a "booming" growth. The customs has regulated a total of 1.017 million people entering and leaving the bridge port, an increase of 18.5% over the same period last year's Spring Festival, and more than 160,000 vehicles entering and leaving the country, an increase of 34.3% year-on-year. At the same time, the sales of food products at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge duplex during the Spring Festival holiday surged by 8 times year-on-year, and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge became an important channel for cross-border consumption.

In response to the demand for increased sales of enterprises and increased frequency of entry and exit during holidays, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Customs strengthens technological empowerment, realizes the digitalization, chainization and transparency of duty-free product supervision, optimizes the entry and exit routes of duty-free product, ensures that duty-free products arrive, verify and release immediately, ensures that duty-free products are cleared and allocated, and quickly put on the shelves for sale.
